Starting over in your second, third, fourth act takes a lot of courage. Once you have had a successful career, you tend to put the bar very high and feel shame of having to start over. It takes courage to expose yourself, to be humble to learn new things, and to make a lot of mistakes. It’s hard to stop asking for validation and to feel confident to pursue your idea. Often in life, we need to take a few steps back to then take many steps forward. But the reality is that you must overcome the shame of starting over and believe that people will be admiring you for the courage to pursue your dreams and bring your ideas to life.
Hi, I’m Ana Kertesz and this is HOWto.LIVEit. Today
I’m going to talk about how to overcome the shame of starting a business after a successful career.
I’ve lived through this myself.
I know how hard it is to get the courage to start over after you
have had a successful career, to have
the courage to expose yourself, to be humble to learn new things
and to make a lot of mistakes.
I know how hard it is to stop asking
for validation and permission, to show there are some things you don’t know
and to start again. The other day
I was, you know, seeing myself doing things that I never imagined
I would be doing at this point in my life,
but I’m trying to build HOWto.LIVEit
and for that I have to take many steps back to then take many steps forward.
So I want you to think about how you can stop asking for validation and permission.
How can you stop trying to do everything perfect. Taking a step is better than
taking no step. How you can stop worrying about the mistakes
you will make along the way, that you can stop with all the fears.
And there’s a set of fear that I’m sure you may be facing,
and just forget about them. How you can stop with the judgment
that you think other people will have on you.
Just don’t think that people will be judging you, people will be admiring you
for the courage to bring your ideas
to life, and to start something new as your second, third, fourth,
whatever act it is. So I hope this encourages you to forget about the shame
and focus on what you are trying to build, why you’re trying to do this,
and remember all the successes you’ve had in your
life, and just bring these alive, so you can create the business and the life that you want.
The world is looking for people who have come alive, if you bring your passions
and ideas to life, you will be coming alive.
You’ll be contributing to the world and we all need more of that.
So get out there, create what you want to do, build
what you want to build, become who you want to become, and live it.
